One of the most challenging parts of hearing loss is the difficulty of hearing and understanding speech in noisy environments such as big groups of people, a restaurant setting or airports. Audéo Sphere Infinio uses real-time artificial intelligence to separate speech from noise using a proprietary DEEPSONIC chip which offers dynamic, real-time adjustments, allowing users to engage in conversations from any direction. The Deep Neural Network used in Audéo Sphere Infinio has 4.5 million neural connections, trained with over 22 million sound samples.

Artificial Intelligence is seen as a large step forwards in hearing aids, and Sonova is among the innovation leaders with its new product. So far, the product has been launched in the US and select European markets, and demand has been greater than company expectations, according to statements made at the company’s Capital Markets Day on August 27.

The global hearing aids market spans around 20 million units annually and it is expected to grow at 4-6% per year.

Sonova is held in the portfolios of the two funds Bellevue Medtech & Services and Bellevue Diversified Healthcare.
