Equity research analyst for biotechnology / innovative new drugs

Young physicians / scientists (m/f) with interest in new drug

In this exciting role as an Equity Research Analyst, you will be part of our Biotech & Healthcare Investment Team, working with fund managers and investment specialists from our leading healthcare franchise.

You will contribute significantly to the success of our investment funds by identifying medical innovations in the field of new drugs at an early stage and assessing their clinical value and the commercial potential of
these innovative technologies and processes.

Contacts with top corporate executives, "key opinion leaders" and other top-class healthcare professionals are an integral part of your challenging and exciting job.

Your tasks

  • Attending medical conferences in the USA, Europe and Asia in the fields of oncology, hepatology, neurology, cardiology, etc., as well as exchanging ideas with physicians to examine the potential for new drugs or development candidates and to translate the findings into investment ideas.
  • Assisting in the screening of new investment ideas, taking into account corporate strategy, market potential, competitive analysis and valuation.
  • Preparation, participation and summary of meetings with company management.
  • Creating and updating company and market models and writing investment reports to help fund managers make buy or sell decisions.
  • Communication with existing and potential clients and with representatives of our sales and product management.

Your educational and professional profile

  • Master of Medicine or Master of Science (PhD advantageous).
  • Experience or current employment in one of the following fields:
    - In the research or (pre-)clinical development of a biotech or pharmaceutical company or in the field of regulatory testing for the approval of new drugs.
    - As an assistant physician with clinical knowledge and 2-5 years of experience in clinical development.
    - Professional experience of 2-5 years in equity analysis, investment banking or an equivalent field with focus on biotech or pharmaceutical companies.
  • Strong analytical skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to work both in a team and autonomously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in German and English.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn to acquire new knowledge in the fields of medicine and natural sciences as well as for financial report analysis and creation of company models and portfolio management.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Medical Doctor (MD / Dr. med.)

In this exciting role as an Equity Research Analyst, you will be part of our Medical Technology & Healthcare Services investment team and partner with fund managers and investment specialists of our leading Healthcare franchise.

You will contribute significantly to the success of our investment funds by ensuring our efforts to identify medical innovations at a very early stage and to correctly assess the clinical value and adoption curve as well as the commercial potential of these innovative technologies and procedures.

Exposure to the most senior corporate executives, key «opinion leader» physicians and other high profile industry experts will become an integral part of your position.

You will

  • Attend medical conferences in the US, Europe, and Asia (e.g. in cardiology, diabetes, robotic surgery, etc.), meet with physicians (face-to-face or virtually) to study disruptive medical technology and megatrends and apply it to investments of public companies
  • Help screen initial stock ideas, looking at company strategy, market potential, competitive analysis and valuation
  • Prepare, conduct and summarize investor meetings with company managements
  • Create and maintain financial company and market models and write investment reports which will help fund managers to make buy or sell decisions
  • Communicate with clients or prospective clients, sales people, and product management

Your educational and professional profile includes

  • A Master’s degree in human medicine (mandatory). You are either
    - a graduate or
    - an assistant doctor who is (ideally but not mandatory) specializing in cardiology, surgery, or endocrinology/diabetology or
    - an associate with 1-3 years working experience in equity research, investment banking, consulting, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical technology industry
  • Strong analytical skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to work both in a team environment and autonomously as well
  • Strong written and oral communication skills both in German and English as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Curiousity and eagerness to acquire financial accounting, financial statement analysis and financial modeling skills
  • Good skills in Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel would be a plus
